Ms Jaami
I have taught English for over 10 years across secondary schools with my most recent position being at an inner-city London sixth form. I have an undergraduate BA (Hons) in American Studies and English Literature from the UK and I then pursued an MA in Teaching of English Language Arts from Teachers College, Columbia University, USA. My teaching career spans both America and the UK.
What I love about teaching English is the ability to delve deep into multiple meanings of the text, to discuss different viewpoints and to share a range of ideas with my students. It is always rewarding to watch a student grow in confidence and develop their own interest in English. Over the years I have also worked as a GCSE and A-level examiner and I feel this experience has enriched my teaching career even further.
Outside of teaching, I am a busy mum of three teenagers. I am also a keen cyclist and part of a network of women who get together and cycle around London. I also volunteer at a local centre, coaching and mentoring young teenage girls.
