Through sheer determination and will, Cambridge Home School Online students constantly push the envelope and look to take up new challenges to prove themselves. CHS Online prides itself on providing the necessary opportunities to help students become the best versions of themselves.
Through our versatile independent curriculum for Primary Prep and Lower School, as well as Cambridge International curriculum for IGCSE and A Levels, students can study British online education regardless of where they are in the world, from the comfort of their homes.
Cambridge Home School Online hosts four programs for students in Asia, Europe, and Africa; Primary Prep, Lower School, Upper School, and Sixth Form.
At this age, students can benefit greatly from having a role model of their own who can show them what hard work can lead to. They encompass the ideal qualities expected from some of the most reputed universities in the world. When choosing our head girl and boy, Cambridge Home School Online considers various factors such as our expectations of them, their character, and their attitude to learning. Similarly, trustworthiness, caring for others, good organisational skills, and resilience also play a key role in their selection.
The head girl and boy are mainly the school’s role models. They also lead the Prefects in their various duties. Their responsibilities include overseeing the school’s various activities, including the singing of songs and assemblies, as well as preventing unkindness among students.
Our current Head Girl, Isabel, has only been with us for three years but has shown the qualities necessary to handle this role. A favourite amongst everyone who meets her, she has taken the reins as Head Girl and has done an exceptional job at it.
Isabel recently shared her experience leading the student body and establishing a communication stream between students and teachers/management. Let’s take a look at what she has to say about the school and its various features:
Isabel’s Journey from Conventional to Online Homeschooling
In this two-minute video, Isabel outlines her three-year journey as a Cambridge Home School Online student and her experience as Head Girl. Studying in Jamaica, Isabel has taken on this role with great enthusiasm, effortlessly working alongside a wonderful team of prefects to run our school-wide competitions, collaborations, and connections mentor scheme.
Outlining how we promote team spirit and a sense of belonging to the school, Isabel adds:
“At Cambridge Home School Online, we have three houses; Pegasus, Griffin, and Phoenix. Everyone belongs to one of them. Like in many schools, we compete with each other for house points. What’s special here is that the points are converted to real currency at the end of the year, and whichever houses amass the most points decides which charity will receive our hard-earned donations.”
Students at CHS Online have worked tirelessly to give back to the community towards efforts they believe are most in need of assistance.
“I find it really motivating to think that our efforts at school positively affect other people’s lives too. Besides, it’s fun to join in!”
Cambridge Home School Online understands that students need to learn a diverse range of skills. To help our students hone their passion, Isabel credits the school for having an active faculty that plans many competitions every year:
“So far this year, we’ve had competitions in art, music, costume, model making, and origami with great success. Collaborations have included a downloadable sweet-and-treat recipe book, a pattern to nature art and resource board, and a collection’s conservation-inspired literature.”
One of the best things about studying at an online school is how it allows students to interact with students from all walks of life, making them more open-minded and informed of others’ cultures and customs.
“With students spanning so many continents, you can imagine how exciting it is to share glimpses of our very different lives.”
Isabel sheds light on our connections mentor scheme, a way for younger students to take guidance from and befriend older students.
“Our mentor scheme is all about friendship. It’s created by students for students. It aims to build networks up and down the school so no one feels isolated and everyone knows where to go to get what they need to make school a successful, happy experience. The idea is that students are invited to host or join small mentor families which run vertically throughout the school from older to younger. We meet in our spare time, maybe play games or chess, perhaps read a book together, or to check in and chat!”
Isabel played a critical role in this mentor scheme’s establishment and popularity; for this, the whole of CHS Online thanks you!
“So, aside from academics, being a pupil at CHS for the past three years has been full of opportunities to get involved. You can make friends from China, to Copenhagen, to Canada. Dip into new activities like debating or drama, and develop valuable life skills no matter where you live. If you’re well organised and willing to work hard, CHS may suit you too.”
