Mrs K Smith

Hello, my name is Mrs Katrina Smith. I was born and raised in Scotland but I now live in Lincoln with my husband, two sons and our border collie. I have always loved Mathematics and went to Strathclyde University in Glasgow to study a BSc. (Hons) in Mathematics and then stuck around to do a MSc. in Industrial Mathematics. I was in retail for a while and ran training courses where I realised I really loved teaching and helping others to learn. Nothing beats that lightbulb moment!

I went to the University of Bristol to study for a PGCE in Secondary Teaching and in 2005 and have been teaching Mathematics ever since. I am passionate about helping students to learn and apply the amazing subject not only just for a qualification but for key life skills, its beauty and of course fun!

When I am not teaching, I can be found doing Parkruns, walking the dog, and tap dancing to keep fit. I am also quite creative and do glass crafts. I make Tiffany style stained glass suncatchers, windows, lamps, mirrors and also jewellery out of fused glass. Funnily enough my speciality is geometric glass designs.
