Mrs Graham

I studied Biology at the University of Sussex and gained an Honours degree, then returned to my hometown of Newcastle where I achieved my PGCE in secondary education. I have taught Biology, Chemistry and Maths for nearly 30 years within the mainstream and special sector.

I was the SENDCO for nearly 17 years and have always loved having the privilege to work with young people, being able to impart knowledge and enthusiasm and see the students grow and thrive.

I also spent two and a half years in Tanzania as a volunteer with VSO (voluntary service overseas) where, as Head of Science, I was able to set up a brand new department and laboratory, teach Biology and Chemistry in both English and Kiswahili to classes of 48 or more students! More recently, I worked with students who were extremely vulnerable and sick in a medium security hospital which was massively challenging, but I do love a challenge!

I have hugely enjoyed my long and very varied career in education and this is a profession that has brought so much joy and has played a significant role in who I am today. My situations and circumstances can change, but young people the world over never fail to impress me with their resilience, enthusiasm and ability to overcome difficulties regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in.

Working for CHS online is just fantastic. It allows me to do what I love whilst also being a mum, wife, sister and daughter to my immediate and very beloved family.
