Mr Shearman
I studied Biology with Professional Education (Secondary) Bsc Hons, a concurrent degree programme in Scotland’s top Educational Studies University, University of Stirling. I then looked to make it onto the international teaching scene by firstly gaining experience as a Science and Biology Teacher, refining my skills in the UK. Thereafter I worked as Principal Teacher of Biology in an International School in Bulgaria specialising in supporting English as Additional Language students to achieve A*- B grades in Biology and Physics. I have also mentored many Early Career Teachers in passing the standards in support of their Postgraduate Certification in Education.
Throughout my 6 years in teaching, I have taught students from over 25 different nationalities using a mixture of traditional and novel pedagogical approaches. This has culminated in providing a holistic learning environment where my students not only attain high grades in external exams but solidify a trusting relationship with a well travelled role model who understands the challenges of being a 21st Century learner.
I am an avid traveller having visited over 30 countries and this number will only continue to grow! I use my personal experiences of different cultures and languages to encourage students to challenge and explore, which are key attributes required to pursue a career in the STEM field. I have been the STEM Supervisor in all of the 5 schools I have worked in. Thus, I am passionate about integrating High Order Thinking skills into lessons building a student who is critically conscious in a rapidly changing and globalised society.
My interests are playing and watching performance sports such as football, badminton, golf and tennis. I especially enjoy working with students who are enrolled in Cambridge Online High School to have the flexibility to pursue a career in professional sports having competed nationally in badminton and golf in my youth.
Cambridge Online High School allows me to deliver bespoke learning pitched at a high level, instilling the ambitious attainment expectations needed to grant students entry to only the best Universities in the UK and Worldwide.
