One of the many benefits of home school curriculums is that they don’t follow the traditional school schedule. Parents can choose to teach the curriculum when it is more convenient for them or the child, and the breaks that traditional school systems take don’t have to be adhered to in a home school setting. This means the session breaks and summer schedule can be adjusted to better suit a home schooled child’s educational needs.
With that being said, there is another, even more important, benefit to a home school curriculum that we don’t often talk about. Children who are home schooled avoid many of the germs, bacteria and viruses that are often present in a traditional school setting. While generally harmless, they can still create some serious health risks. This includes the recent outbreak of the coronavirus.
Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), has caused many cities throughout the EU to shut down. That includes grocery stores, restaurants and, yes, even schools. While done to keep everyone safe and healthy, school closures can cause major delays in a child’s education, changing their entire schedule if they are to keep on track with the curriculum.
There is talk that schools here in the UK could yet see closures due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). These school closures could last months, even spilling over into next term.
Reduce Your Risk Of Infection
To protect yourself and your child from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), there are some simple precautions that you must take. According to the World Health Organization, you can reduce your risk of infection if you:
Clean hands frequently with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow.
Avoid close contact (1 metre) with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms.
As you can see, protecting yourself and your family from the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak is simple as long as you follow the above guidelines recommended by the World Health Organization. For more benefits of a home school curriculum, contact Cambridge Home School today.
