Mrs Grant

After completing a degree in Biological Sciences at Birmingham University, I began my career in animal welfare research before qualifying as a Science teacher at Oxford University in 1994. I have taught secondary Science for over 23 years, delivering all three sciences to students across the full age and ability range. Alongside classroom teaching, I’ve held a variety of leadership roles in curriculum development, mentoring, and pastoral care.

My teaching journey has taken me from large comprehensive schools in the UK to tutoring roles in Australia and university-level mentoring at Bath Spa University, where I supported PGCE trainee Science teachers both in person and online. I’m passionate about fostering scientific curiosity and helping students build confidence through engaging, well-structured lessons tailored to their individual needs. I also have extensive experience preparing students for 11+, GCSE, and A Level Biology exams.

I’m committed to evidence-informed teaching and enjoy integrating digital tools to enhance learning. I strive to create a supportive, inclusive classroom where every student feels encouraged to explore, question, and grow.

Outside of school, I enjoy walking our dog Stan, singing in a choir, reading with my book club, and travelling in our campervan — exploring the UK and Europe with my husband and two sons.
