Mr Theodore
I am an artist, academic and photographer with more than 30 years of experience in the making, directing, and teaching of photography, fine art and fashion. My qualifications include a master’s degree in photography, a postgraduate certificate in further education and a teaching fellowship. During my time in the university sector, I have worked as a course leader, principal lecturer, and senior academic, as well as acting as an internal moderator to the University of the Arts London, assuring the quality of assessment across other centres.
My photographic practice has taken the form of documentary, advertising, portraiture, studio, and underwater photography. I have been selected for national and international publications and awards including the Sunday Times, the Association of Photographers prize, and a range of fashion editorial magazines for print. As an artist, my work is driven by political and cultural issues in contemporary society. The journey, often personal, explores dreams, desires, and tension in a complex reframing of the familiar, expressed as tableaux photography.
As the director of my own creative business ‘StudioRoost’ (a location studio and gallery space), I am actively involved in commercial practice around my teaching commitments. This allows me to guide students with contemporary industry insight, preparing and focussing them on future employment opportunities.
I am extremely excited to be working with CHS online to lead the Online Foundation Diploma course, helping students take their first creative steps whilst diagnosing their specialism. This is something I am passionate about, having guided thousands of foundation students in this manner over the past 15 years, resulting in their placement in the best and most appropriate universities.
